Getting a tattoo is a serious commitment, since they are pretty much forever…okay, you can technically get them lasered off, but the process is quite lengthy and painful. That’s why most people think twice before deciding what they’ll ink on their bodies forever. The celebrities have decided to take a chance and tattoo themselves in Hebrew, a language that they most likely do not speak. While some of them have managed to pull it off, others have ended up with gibberish that they probably regret. Here are some Hebrew celebrity tattoos and the meaning behind them.

Nicole Peltz has a tattoo on her ribs that reads משפחה ערשט, which means “family first” in Yiddish. While technically this tattoo isn’t in Hebrew, Yiddish shares an alphabet and many similar worlds. Nicola got the tattoo done in July 2016 by tattoo artist Dr. Woo.

Christina Aguilera has several tattoos, one of which is located on her lower back which translations to “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” Right below it is another tattoo of her now ex-husband’s initials, JB. Her ex Jordan Bratman is Jewish, although Aguilera herself is not. Their son’s middle name is Liron, a Hebrew name meaning “my joy” or “my song.”
