One of the best parts of winter is the fact that it’s the best time of the year to enjoy hot cocoa. Nothing is better than getting home from a chilly, snowy day and enjoying a piping hot cup of cocoa snuggled up in your favorite blanket. Put on some relaxing music, grab a great book, and we won’t blame you if you never want to leave the house again.
Best of all, you can easily make some using a slow cooker, that way, your hot cocoa is being prepared while you’re out and then it’s ready to go when you come back home!
What You Need
1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup heavy cream
6 cups whole milk
mini marshmallows and any other toppings you want
What To Do
Combine all the ingredients together (except your toppings, of course) in you slow cooker. Mix everything thoroughly so it is all combined. Cook everything until everything has fully melted on the low setting for 2 hours. Make sure you have it set on low so that the milk won’t curdle.
About ten minutes before you want to serve the hot cocoa, you can mix in the marshmallows so they become melty and gooey.
Garnish with anything else you like. You can add in espresso, cinnamon, peppermint extract, Kahlua, and pretty much anything else your heart desires.
