The crimes that will put you behind bars range in levels of severity from grand theft to much more serious crimes like murder. Inmates who have been accused of the most atrocious crimes (depending on the state) can end up on Death Row, facing execution. While you might think that food would be the last thing on their minds, inmates are often given a choice of what their last meal will be right before they are executed. Here are some of the most notorious criminals in history and what they requested as their last meals.

Peter Kürten

Nickname the “Vampire of Düsseldorf,” Peter Kürten was given the death sentence in April 1931. He was a serial killer who was known for consuming his victim’s blood, hence the nickname. He was found guilty of seven murders and seven murder attempts.

When asked what his preference would be for his last meal, Peter Kürten requested Wiener schnitzel, or veal schnitzel. It was served with the classic Austrian potato side along with white wine. He even asked for seconds, which apparently he was given.
