While using real food does make it look more realistic, the major drawback was the fact that under the warm production lights, a lot of the food spoiled quickly and in turn caused quite an unpleasant smell. In subsequent films, artificially frozen food molds were used instead of real food.

Dental Casts For The Kids
Since our main trio was depicted by such young actors in the first few films, the production crew decided to have dental casts made for their teeth in case they began losing their baby teeth while filming. As Radcliffe shared, “Cause you’ve got a set full of twenty 10-year-olds… they would cast everyone’s mouths,” and so anytime they did lose a tooth, it was immediately replaced with a cast version for filming.
